n a scathing new book, former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan said the Bush administration turned "away from candor and honesty" when selling the American people on the Iraq War, and that it was inept in its handling of Hurricane Katrina and the Valerie Plame affair.
Scott McClellan's book takes a shot at President Bush.

McClellan, whose job it was to promote the policies of his boss, calls the Iraq war in his soon-to-be released memoir a "serious strategic blunder" and "grave mistake" and chastises the president for his "decision to turn away from candor and honesty when these qualities were most needed."

Iraq War a 'Grave Mistake'

"To this day, the president seems unbothered by the disconnect between the chief rationale for war and the driving motivation behind it, and unconcerned about how the case was packaged," he writes in "What Happened: Inside the Bush White House and Washington's Culture of Deception," which goes on sale next week.
